Inspiration and lessons for your leadership journey!
“Enlightened leadership is spiritual if we understand spirituality not as some kind of religious dogma or ideology but as the domain of awareness where we experience values like truth, goodness, beauty, love and compassion, and also intuition, creativity, insight and focused attention.”
Have you ever thought of your leadership as spiritual? Here is a list of some common spiritual principles in no particular order:
When you stop and think about it, these are also great leadership principles or characteristics of great leaders.
Take integrity, for example. Some form of it is on almost every mission statement, values list, or leadership principles around the world. You might also see it as character, honesty, or doing the right thing, even when no one is looking. The word integrity comes from the mathematics word integer and originates from the Latin for untouched and whole, or in other words, being pure and holy.
A somewhat new system of corporate governance, Just Culture, is being embraced by thousands of businesses and regulatory authorities around the world. It helps leaders to be “just” with their employees and helps to create safer and more productive work environments. If you haven’t heard of or been trained in the basics of Just Culture, I highly recommend that you do.
This is a great time to synergize your spirituality with your leadership. Not only will it make you a better leader, it will make you more transparent and authentic – two more of those spiritual and leadership principles that are intertwined and buzzing in leadership circles.
Take some time today to reflect on how you can begin to view your leadership as spiritual.
