Alan Mikolaj is a professional, experienced, positive, and passionate speaker, leadership and organizational development consultant, change agent, author, and coach. He is a continual student of positive psychology, leadership, and personal and professional growth and development. He is married to a lovely elementary school educator and has five children. He and his wife, along with their twin boys, live in coastal southeast Texas near Houston.
Alan has coached leaders from the front lines to the C-suite. He is a certified graduate coach from Coaching Out of the Box. He is also a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and adheres to the ICF's Standards of Behavior and Code of Ethics. Alan also has broad experience leading teams in the design and delivery of engaging and interactive leadership development programs and curricula—both in-person and virtually. He is a certified facilitator in a number of programs and workshops such as The Leadership Challenge®, Leading at the Speed of Trust®, and Crucial Conversations®. He has extensive experience administering and coaching leaders on 360-degree leadership assessments.
Alan holds his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Sam Houston State University. He has taught at San Antonio College, North Harris County Community College District, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Lone Star College, Sam Houston State University, and the Bradford School of Business.
He was a licensed paramedic for over twenty years and served as a medical specialist in the US Army. Alan has gained fruitful insights and experiences in healthcare, the petroleum exploration industry, private business, and higher education.
Alan also has extensive experience in critical incident stress management and even wrote a book about it for emergency services workers. He was the founding president of the Southwest Texas CISM team in San Antonio and was a clinical member of the Bluebonnet CISM team that served the greater Houston area emergency services for more than 20 years.
