To the ancient Greeks, to be inspired was to have the breath of life or the breath of God come within. The original Latin, inspirare, literally means 'to breathe upon or into.' Others interpret the meaning to be ‘in spirit’ or to have the 'spirit of God within.'
Being inspired is what fills our hearts with joy and motivates us to higher thoughts and actions, whether you believe in God or not. And, as Teyonah points out in the opening quote, our inspiration, is oftentimes contagious.
